Titanium Whisky Tantalus

This Goldsmiths Craft & Design Award winning piece won Silver in the 2022 Awards. 

Those familiar with the traditional processes used in the production of Scottish whisky will discover different  design elements which represent  the materials used.

With an ever more growing concern about the environment this special piece was created using both ethically sourced and sustainable / recycled materials where possible.  

These included the reclaimed Oak and Ebony base, to the recycled and processed 24ct Gold plated metal work and titanium and the precious & semi precious gemstones adorning this masterpiece.

The combination lock requires the correct alignment of coloured gemstones dialled in on the 3 central gold rotors. Then the hand formed and welded titanium cage, adorned with various beautifully crafted insects and creatures can be released unlocking your most precious elixirs within.    

Once the cage is released it can be stored on its own matching stand which also holds the remote control and programmer for the LED's.

To activate / de-activate the LED's, touch any foot or one of the custom silver encapsulated tumblers. The entire piece runs off the standard British 3 pin plug supplied. The LED remote control is clad in fine silver with a Gold Plated Titanium back. 

The Titanium cage is made from Grade 5 Titanium (The strongest and lightest available) seamlessly welded together. Festooning the cage are several creatures and decorations which include:

- 1x Dragon Tail Butterfly (Silver body with black diamond eyes and coloured inlayed titanium wings with Swiss blue topaz briolette tips.)

- 1x Honey Bee (Silver body with black diamond eyes, 24ct Gold inlay and clear inlay titanium wings.) 

- 1x Black Widow Spider (Silver with black diamond eyes and genuine Swarovski rubies.)

- 2x Red ladybirds (Fine Silver with black diamond spots and candy red coating.)

- Honeycomb and Spider's web are grade 5 titanium hand welded and heat anodised blue with several madeira Citrines set in silver within the honeycomb.

- Vines, leaves and coiled tendrils are pure titanium heat anodised blue with several Tahitian and white pearls.

- On top of the cage is a very special Lapis Lazuli sphere hand picked over 6 months of searching which perfectly represents the Earth and how these reclaimed / recycled materials and processes are needed in order to protect it.
